We are happy to announce this week’s winner AIBP Weekly Choice Image Competition!

This week’s choices were selected by Shawn Black of Couture Black based out of Boston, MA. He has been photographing boudoir for over 8 years and recently acquired AIBP. He is looking forward to continuing to push the boudoir genre forward.

Shawn selected this image because, “This image stood out to me because I’m sucker for when all the little details in a pose are executed perfectly like that back arch followed by the neck arch, the toe point, hand/finger placement and over all how many triangles were achieved. I love the lighting and black and white conversion as I feel it highlights her ink nicely. Everything in this image just builds to created the drama and emotion it conveys.”

What Shawn had to say about this image. “The beauty of this image is in its simplicity, it look genuine and natural, that smile can’t be faked. The joy in her eyes as she connects with the camera is contagious, I couldn’t help but smile when looking at this.”

Shawn felt that “This image is all about the connection for me. Her eyes and expression just drew me in and made me linger every time I viewed. I like the black and white as it allows you to focus where you need to with out the distraction of color.”

A little about Anna in her own words, “My name is Anna, I am the owner of Boudoir Ego, located in San Diego, CA. I have been shooting boudoir since I was 15 years (shhh.. I know that’s young) and I have owned my business since 2011. I joined AIBP in 2012 and I have watched this group flourish. Currently, I teach photographers Branding and Brand Marketing along with Flow Posing. For the past two years I have also been the CGO (Chief Growth Officer) of UAF Photo Lab in Canada.”

Shawn selected this image because, “I kept coming back to this image because I was captivated by the simplicity of it. It’s a simple pose with the color stripped from the image leaving you to wonder. What is her story? Where is her gaze leading? Who is she waiting for? I love the way this is lit and the black & white conversion in post production with such a stark contrast creates not distractions within the frame.”

1st Runner up this week is Stephanie Valenti of Boudoir by Stephanie Valenti.
What Shawn had to say about this image. “I love the non traditional angle this image was shot from creating semi anonymity of the woman’s face as it falls in to softer focus. The incorporation of the highlight and shadow created by the window frame is a beautiful element as it leads the eye within the image.”

2nd runner up go to Amanda Moses of Amanda Moses Photography based out of Birmingham, AL.
Shawn felt that “From her expression and pose you can feel the power with in this image. It is beautifully lit to accentuate the curves and lines of her body. And I especially like the black & white matte look conversion which gives the appearance this was shot on film..”

Sarah is the owner and lead photographer of OWN Boudoir studio based in Atlanta, GA. She’s photographed over 1700 women in the last 10 years that her studio has been open and is most inspired by the transformation that clients experience after they see their OWN beauty captured in a photograph.

What Sarah had to say about this image. “I love all of the colors and textures in this image. The warmth of the image is only amplified by the client’s smile and she looks genuinely happy. The photographer did a great job of capturing energy in this shot.”

2nd runner up go to Kendra Jordan of Phoenix Fire Boudoir based out of Welch, OK.
Sarah felt that “This is one of those images where all of the details are conspiring together to create a standalone image. I could see the client wanting to print this image huge for their home. The textures and toning work really well and I love that the client is framed well with the drapery on the bed; drawing the viewer’s eye directly to her.”

Comments from Nino, “Almost a figure study, in some ways, but still a hugely emotional shot! Everything is in place, there is a serenity I really love about it, but still sensual and with all the right geometry and vibe. Post approach is nice, too, with the tinted monochrome working super well to really define the mood.”

2nd runner up go to Peter Driessel of Boudoir Fusion Photography based out of Randpark Ridge, South Africa.
Wise words of Nino on this image, “That’s a bold pose to work with in a bedroom, and in that outfit! This is glamorous, powerful and sexy af. There’s a story here, and it captures a strong moment. Red gloves as an accent color are a great choice, as it wraps up this shot with a final sexy touch.”
