John Thompson | John W Thompson IV Photography LLC

Congratulations to John Thompson of John W Thompson IV Photography LLC based in Glenmore PA.

Valerie’s comments on this image “The shadows, and highlights in this image are divine. The posing is on point, and I love that her movements are implied while the focus remains on her face. There is something to be said for less is more, and this photo is the embodiment of that message. You are teasing the viewer with the tiny details — you can’t see everything she’s wearing, but you know it’s sexy. You can’t see what her hands are doing, but you know they are somewhere naughty. But, if you pay attention, her face gives it all away and more. It is intriguing, and drew me in right away. Well done!”

Sam Guillermo | NKDHMNS

1st runner up goes to Sam Guillermo of NKDHMNS based in Baltimore.

Valerie selected this image as 2nd place because “Lighting, lighting, lighting!!! You can literally feel the warmth in this image, and it makes you want to crawl right in bed with her and spend the afternoon. The posing is fantastic, and shows just enough of the model to keep the viewer engaged and wanting more. The touch to the lips is everything… a tiny tease with a BIG impact. Well done! “

Toni Varone | Toni V BoudoirToni Varone Photography

2nd runner up goes to Toni Varone of Toni V BoudoirToni Varone Photography based in Pasadena, California.

Valerie’s thoughts on this image “I love the clean, bright edit on this. It reminds me of the 1950’s. The posing is sexy, playful, and fun. The image tells a story… don’t go to work this morning, stay in the sheets with me! Who could resist?? Well done!”

This month Valerie selected an honorable mention.

Zambi Gose | ANM Boudoir

Comments: “I could not stop coming back to this image. I love the intimacy of it, and the touch to the lips is such a tease!”

Lauren Schwab | High Heals Photography

Congratulations to Lauren Schwab of High Heals Photography.

Tanya’s comments on this image “Love love the light in this one! The blue pillow with jeweled accents and her jewelry… as well as the red/orange in the background look fantastic together. And again, we have a classic pose, but done very well, and her hand on her chest looks very natural. Her face is well lit with the light spilling off to the left of the frame showing a glimpse of the rest of her body.”

Casey Brannon | Casey Brannon Photography

1st runner up goes to Casey Brannon from Casey Brannon Photography based in Myrtle Beach.

Tanya selected this image as 2nd place because it’s “simple and fun. Love the vibe of this image- it’s sexy and fun. Tones are great here as well. Client’s pose is well done with details of the tippy toes and flexed calves. Her shirt hides just enough, and the expression and hand in her hair looks natural-which is usually difficult to make look natural. “

Adam Kokx | Kokx Studios

2nd runner up goes to Adam Kokx of Kokx Studios based in Western Michigan.

Tanya’s thoughts on this image “I normally would not like the fact that her head is cut off, but in this image it works. I love how this one is processed, with a warm yellow tone and a bit of grain… this looks like old film-love it”

This month Tanya selected 2 honorable mentions listed in no particular order below.

Kara Dunn | Déjà Revél

Comments: “Love the connection between the couple here, and the nice warm lighting adds an intimate feel while highlighting their ink.”

Greg Schuler | Schuler Studios

We are happy to announce the September AIBP Monthly Choice Image Competition sponsored by UAF Photo Lab.

This month’s choices were selected by Shawn Black of Couture Black based out of Boston, MA. He has been photographing boudoir for over 8 years and is the President of AIBP. He is looking forward to continuing to push the boudoir genre forward.

And the winner is….

Kara Dunn | Deja Revel

Congratulations to Kara Dunn of Deja Revel based in York County PA.

Shawn’s comments on this image “From lighting to the pose to the toning this image struck me. The way the light defines her body accentuating the water glistening on her skin adds to an image that despite appearing slightly risqué is tamed by strategic placement of the arms and legs in the pose. The anonymity of this lends itself to be a great piece of wall art.”

Heather Glenn | Elysian Bloom Boudoir

1st runner up is Heather Glenn of Elysian Bloom Boudoir based in Dallas, TX.

Shawn’s comments on this image “I absolutely love connection in images and this woman nails it. Her intense gaze is contrasted her soft smile, just as her dark hair is a beautiful contrast to the light wardrobe choice for this set.”

2nd runner up is Kristina Daugherty from KJBoudoir based in Chesterfield VA.

MONTHLY CHOICE SPONSORED BY UAF PHOTO LABS AUGUST 2023

We are happy to announce the June AIBP Monthly Choice Image Competition sponsored by UAF Photo Lab.

This month’s guest judge is Nino Batista.Nino Batista, a visionary in fashion, editorial erotica and sensual portraiture, has crafted a remarkable artistic journey. Exploring and working in graphic design, music and audio production, guitar, and ultimately in 2009, Nino officially embraced photography, setting the stage for his exploration of captivating, intimate portraiture.

Nino Batista’s remarkable story embodies the transformative power of passion and dedication, and his contributions as a photographer, educator, and the visionary behind NBP Retouch Tools have left an indelible imprint on the industry, inspiring others to overcome personal obstacles and find their creative voice.

And the winner is….

Kristina Daugherty – KJBoudoir

Congratulations to Kristina Daugherty from KJBoudoir based in Chesterfield VA.

Nino’s selected this image because “This one got me at first because I could not tell where the mirror was. I knew there had to be one, but it just looked like two subjects staring at each other across the room. Once I sorted out what was going on, I especially enjoyed how the concept was treated with a serious tone. Lingerie and that mask could go very campy very fast, but it didn’t, and the overall tone here and the post production work keeping it moody and subdued, really works very well. It’s bold and borders on erotica, and that is definitely never a bad thing.”

James Graf

1st runner up is James Graf.

Nino’s comments on this image “At first I was hesitant to select this one, but it’s pure glamour, and in that regard it works so well. I like the slightly overexposed background, I like the absurdity of the outfit (yay, glamour!) And the subject face not being seen. Adds a sort of air of mystery to it, and keeps it from being cheesy (which in this scenario could have happened easily). It’s sexy and well produced, and evokes even an odd storytelling element.”

Amy Laskye – Amy May Photography

2nd runner up is Amy Laskye of Amy May Photography.

Nino’s comments on this image “I am always partial to detail shots as they usually add some intimate intensity, and I especially like the various textures going on here. I think monochrome was a great choice as well. Highlights and shadows are kept very nicely in check, and that there’s plenty of contrast but everything is very clear. Very sensual but also fine art like.”

Congratulations to the winners of the Monthly Choice Image Competition sponsored by UAF Photo Lab.  We look forward to seeing more amazing work from you and more AIBP members! Thank you so much to Nino for being out guest judge for July.  We know it’s never easy to select winning images as we have so many talented photographers.

Justin selected this image because it has  “Beautiful light and editing. Every time you look at the photo, you discover a little bit more beyond the subjects face that draws all of the attention, while leaving your eye to find the rest.”

Maria Turner – Black Diamond Boudoir

This month also has an Honorable Mention, Maria Turner of Black Diamond Boudoir based in Houston, Texas

Comments from Justin on this Honorable Mention “Beautiful use of light, and negative space. A great photo indeed, but the pose and face position are just a bit shy of perfection. A little tweak to the pose and this could easily have been in competition for 1st place as well!”

Congratulations to the winners of the Monthly Choice Image Competition sponsored by UAF Photo Lab.  We look forward to seeing more amazing work from you and more AIBP members!
