This week’s choices were selected by Shawn Black of Couture Black based out of Boston, MA. He has been photographing boudoir for over 8 years and recently acquired AIBP. He is looking forward to continuing to push the boudoir genre forward.

Shawn’s comments on this image.”There is such a beautiful use of the natural light in this image both creating depth to the environment as well as the beautiful rim light along her legs. I love the pose to accentuate her legs and it is executed to perfect. Lastly the retouch and toning works to complete a stunning image.”
The first runner up is Molly Seftick of Amour Propre Boudoir based in New Haven, IN
Shawn’s comment’s on this image “I love the starkness of the white sheets and the blown out windows in the image. The unique pose and angle that this was shot from make for a beautiful implied nude.”
The second runner up is Romain Deprick of Maestro VII based in Orange County.
Shawn’s comments on this image. “This image stuck out to me because it is a non-traditional details shot, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a similar crop before and I love unique. I also appreciate the message being conveyed by her ink being the focus of the frame.”

Shawn’s comments on this image. “This is an absolutely stunning bodyscape! For me the addition of the water droplets is what takes this image over the top. The texture they create and the beautiful skin retouch take a great pose and complete it. Also the black and white conversion is superb and I don’t know if I could envision this in color.”
1st Runner up this week is Ashley Layden of Modern Muse Studio LLC based out of Oklahoma City.
Shawn’s selected this image because “This is another great tushy pose. I love the negative space created with the bend in her arms allowing the curve of her lower back to come through. The bubbles add a great texture and love of fun to the image.”
2nd Runner up this week is Renee Lee of Be.Boudoir.
Shawn’s thoughts on this image. “This is a wonderful bridal boudoir image. It is a beautiful pose, with nice asymmetry in the legs and a kill arch in her back. Nice use of the natural light with out over powering her with all the white tulle glowing.”

To start the lighting is exquisite the way that it falls on her body in the foreground while also still defining her in the reflection. The pose and framing work so well with the dual image so well. Finally the retouch done on her skin is perfect where it leaves just enough texture to keep her from looking plastic.”
1st Runner up this week is Sarah Brown of Sarah Brown Boudoir.
What Shawn had to say about this image. “This is a beautiful white sheet implied nude. I especially like the pose and angle that this was shot from that not only flatters her form, but provides for a level of anonymity which only adds to the final image.”

Shawn felt that “This is a beautiful not traditional tub pose. I love how the lighting shows off the definition in her arm and the cheekiness of the over the shoulder look playing off the implied nude just works for a fun image.”

The lighting is beautifully executed with a nice falloff into shadow without losing all definition.Those previous factors aside I chose this image because of her connection and the pose which creates a wonderful hourglass shape to her body..”

What Shawn had to say about this image. “This is a beautifully staged water shot. I enjoy the use of color from all the florals incorporated into the image contrasted with the white of the gown she his wearing.”

Shawn felt that “Something about the anonymity and caught in the moment feel of this image’s framing caught my. Being able to partially see her face while the attention is drawn to her chest both with focus and pose makes this image stand out.

AIBP Weekly Choice Winner 10/15/2021

What Marietta had to say, “This image drew my attention because, while seemingly only a detail shot, it captures perfectly the melding of textural details that give the overall composition a depth that made me wonder what that particular moment felt for the subject. The ice is perfectly captured and plays with the lights filtering through, the shadows, and the textures of the skin to perfectly reflect the scene at hand.”
1st Runner up this week is Lindsey Shaw of Lacy Dreams Boudoir based in Fort Worth, Texas.
Marietta’s thoughts “This image evokes romanticism from positioning to the hairstyle cascading subtly in rich brown waves down her back while seductively closing her eyes in imaginary bliss. The lash detail draws one’s eye and evokes the romanticism intended.”
2nd runner up go to Yvonne Renckens of Powervrouwen netwerk from the Netherlands.
Marietta’s comments on this image, “In this detail shot, there is an utterly unfiltered view of something almost fetishist about the image. It’s dark and somewhat moody and there is barely no evident retouching so, when the honey itself has some fantastic specular highlights that reflect the nature of the lighting available, you believe those are completely natural and reflect the available light perfectly. You can really envision the viscose properties of the honey and the way that it is splayed on the area is suggestive of something much more sensual going on.”

Why Michelle selected this image. “For a detail shot I like the usage of very basic wardrobe, but the best part of the image for me is the remaining texture of her skin. Had she been retouched completely smooth it would have lost something.”

Michelle’s thought on this image “I like the unashamed playfulness in the image from wardrobe or lack there of to the pose, especially the right hand. Her intense connection completes the image as her eyes draw you in.”

Shawn selected this image because, “This image stood out to me because I’m sucker for when all the little details in a pose are executed perfectly like that back arch followed by the neck arch, the toe point, hand/finger placement and over all how many triangles were achieved. I love the lighting and black and white conversion as I feel it highlights her ink nicely. Everything in this image just builds to created the drama and emotion it conveys.”

What Shawn had to say about this image. “The beauty of this image is in its simplicity, it look genuine and natural, that smile can’t be faked. The joy in her eyes as she connects with the camera is contagious, I couldn’t help but smile when looking at this.”

A little about Anna in her own words, “My name is Anna, I am the owner of Boudoir Ego, located in San Diego, CA. I have been shooting boudoir since I was 15 years (shhh.. I know that’s young) and I have owned my business since 2011. I joined AIBP in 2012 and I have watched this group flourish. Currently, I teach photographers Branding and Brand Marketing along with Flow Posing. For the past two years I have also been the CGO (Chief Growth Officer) of UAF Photo Lab in Canada.”
