Shawn’s comments on this image, “There is something about the softness and simplicity of this image that struck me. The way the light falls across her body from the window is beautiful. I love the sharpness in the details of her face as the focus slowly fades as it moves down her body. The tones in the image are a wonderful mix of neutrals which all compliment each other allowing the highlights and shadows to guide your eye through the image. Lastly I like the juxtaposition of the relaxed expression with the slight bit of tension as she grips the sheet covering her.”
Pascale Dekker | The Female Gaze
1st runner up for January goes to Pascale Dekker owner and photographer at The Female Gaze based in the Netherlands.
Shawn’s comments on this image. “This image for me is about textures. From the beautifully detailed piece of lingerie with numerous lace details to the canvas backdrop behind her which evokes painters brush strokes in my mind. I like the black and white toning and how the light defines her body. Pose wise that arch is killer especially since there is enough light coming through to really accentuate it.”

2nd Runner Image is from Lauren Schwab, owner and photographer at High Heals Photography based in Colorado.
Shawn’s comments on this image, “It may only be a sliver of the subject’s body but this image draws you in. Starting with the black & white conversion that compliments the lighting perfectly. The sharpness and texture of the water droplets add so much to the soft pose and feel of the image as a whole. In some cases less is more and this image certainly takes advantage of that philosophy.”
